What is pimple like abscess in back of throat?

When I pop it, a clear gelatinous-type liquid comes out, it goes away for 3-7+ days and comes back in same place.

More background: does not smell, no pain, tonsils removed, no food stuck anywhere, it%26#039;s just annoying when food rubs against it.|||The Dr may want you to take an antibiotic for a week or so.|||Sometimes if a minor salivary gland gets plugged up or pinched off, you can get whats called a mucocele. The duct that usually empties the saliva into your mouth is plugged or altered, so the saliva builds up under the surface like a balloon. They%26#039;re most likely to occur on lips and cheeks and I haven%26#039;t personally seen one on the %26quot;back of the throat%26quot; like you described, but if there is a small little salivary duct there, it is certainly possible.

Sometimes these will resolve themselves and just disappear, sometimes they need to be surgically removed. It would be in your best interest to get to a dentist to make sure it is not something more serious.|||I am not sure what kind of abscess it is. You really should get it checked out. It might take antibiotics to clear it up.
